A Message from Our Principal

DCES Families,

What an amazing year we have ahead of us! As the the principal of Deer Creek Elementary, I am honored to lead our school community and look forward to getting to know you and your students during their time at DCES.

Our school has rich history of academic excellence and community involvement.  Our teachers and staff are highly trained professionals who are committed to providing the best possible educational experience for each little Antler who crosses their path. We firmly believe that each of our students is special and unique. Our goal is to treat each child as an individual and provide the resources necessary to help each child reach their full potential.

I am truly blessed and honored to be working with you and your children. Elementary age children have a special place in my heart. Throughout my career, I have worked with elementary students, and my goal is to nurture, encourage, and love each child in my school as if they were my own. I can’t think of any other occupation I would rather be doing.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if there is anything we can do to help or if you have questions we can answer.

Thank you,

Laura Koehn
DCES Principal

Buckley, Our School Therapy Dog

Buckley, our school therapy dog, is a lovable Goldendoodle that brings joy and comfort to students and staff alike. With a soft and fluffy coat that invites gentle petting, Buckley has become an integral part of our school community. Whether it's a challenging day or a moment of celebration, Buckley is always there to provide a calming presence. Known for her friendly disposition and intuitive nature, she has a remarkable ability to sense when someone needs a friend.

Students often find solace in spending time with Buckley during stressful times, and her presence creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere within the school. Buckley's impact extends beyond just being a therapy dog; she fosters a sense of connection and support that contributes to the overall well-being of everyone in our school.
